Serpentine Galleries Mystery Nights

Theresa Lola shared a specially commissioned poem at Serpentine Galleries’ Mystery Night, where art, words, and culture came together in an inspiring and unforgettable way.

The Future Contemporaries Mystery Nights is a bi-annual event of innovative programmes that brings together artistic talents and the next generation of patrons invested in contemporary culture.

London Growth Plan

Theresa Lola was commissioned to write and voice a poem for the launch of the London Growth Plan led by Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. The large scale plan is a ten year strategy to boost the tech, health, and creative sectors .

The poem ‘Tomorrow Will Remember This Day’ and the accompanying film was shown at the launch event held at Imperial College . The poem conveyed the aspirations of the plan and chronicled London’s reinventions over the years.

Selfridges: Mother’s Day

Ode to Mothers’ Nature’ was specially commissioned by Selfridges for Mother’s Day. In addition Theresa facilitated an online poetry writing session for Selfridges consumers to write their own poems.

The Wick

The Wick led by Katy Wickremesinghe prides itself on being for the culturally curious. Theresa read a commissioned poem as part of their private Monday Muse women’s dinner held at Claridge’s. The poem celebrated the role of women in the arts.

Regent Street

Theresa Lola was commissioned to write a poem about one of London’s most popular shopping area, Regent Street. Flagship of Buzz shines a light on what makes central London so special.

Royal Festival Hall

Royal Festival Hall is a landmark venue in London. To celebrate the 70th year anniversary, they commissioned Theresa to write a poem for the hall, taking inspiration from its architecture and archives. The result is ‘Offerings and Exchange’.

National Gallery: Immersive Experience

Sensing the Unseen: Step into Gossaert's 'Adoration' was an immersive experience that featured interactive design, ambient sounds, and poetry to uncover the unseen elements of the 16th-century painting Adoration of Kings by Jan Gossaert’.

Theresa Lola was commissioned to write a poem from the perspective of the Black king in the painting. Look at the Revival. Audiences listened to the poem and sounds in pods. Read the poem ‘Look at the Revival’.

Mayor of London’s Office: Statue Unveiling

Commissioned by the Mayor of London’s office to write a poem for the unveiling of the first statue of a woman on Parliament Square. The statue of Millicent Fawcett was created by artist Gillian Wearing. The poem ‘For Those Who Listen When Courage Calls’ was read at an event fittingly held at Parliament Square, with Theresa Lola taking the stage alongside the Prime Minister, Mayor of London, and petitioner Caroline Criado Perez.
