Chorus at the Ceremony
Who We Beans was an exhibition which traced community resilience and preservation of cultural heritage via West African food in the diaspora. Theresa Lola combined text with bio resin, woven art, film, and a specially created board game. Beans, specifically black-eyed pea appears as a motif through the exhibition. Used in staple meals across West Africa, and in meals they have inspired in the diasporas, the crop represents resourcefulness and durability. the exhibition was at Bermondsey Project Space.
